The search for gold in Alaska has been going on for at least the past one hundred sixty years. Many large gold nuggets have been found but it wasn't until 1998 that Barry Clay located Alaska's largest gold nugget ever . It weighed over 294 troy ounces and was discovered at Barry's Swift Creek Mine in the Long / Poorman area near Ruby Alaska. | ||||||||||

Welcome to the web site of Barry Clay's Swift Creek Mine. You'll want to check out each of the pages. Click on "The Nugget" link to see pictures of the huge 294 ounce Centennial Nugget found on the 100 year anniversary of the Klondike gold rush. Be sure and take a look at the "Ruby Alaska" link to learn more about this historic gold rush town. It is not as well known as Dawson, Nome or Fairbanks but was an integral part of Alaska's gold rush history. Ruby is now a checkpoint on the northern route of the Iditarod trail sled dog race.
