The search for gold in Alaska has been going on for at least the past one hundred sixty years. Many large gold nuggets have been found but it wasn't until 1998 that Barry Clay located Alaska's largest gold nugget ever . It weighed over 294 troy ounces and was discovered at Barry's Swift Creek Mine in the Long / Poorman area near Ruby Alaska.
